Dermaplaning
What is it?
Dermaplaning involves carefully using a sterile surgical blade to remove the outer most layer of your skin. It removes dead skin, vellus hair and creates a smooth canvas for makeup application. The face is first double cleansed before dermaplaning takes place. Then a face mask will be used followed by the LED light.
The vellus hairs will not grow back thicker and there is no downtime for this treatment. You may experience slight redness or dryness in some areas of the treated face. This treatment is popular for occasions where smooth make up application is needed.
Pre treatment need to know
You should not have:
- injectables to the face 48 hours prior to treatment
- sun exposure and sunbed use 3 days before treatment
- use retinol and AHA BHA 3 days before treatment
- topical prescription retinol 2 weeks prior
- prescription acne medication 5 days before treatment
- active acne or cold sores
- sensitive or flared up skin
Your suitability for this treatment will be assessed at the consultation phase.
Post treatment need to know
- continue with homecare products and sunscreen 50+
- avoid retinol 1-5days post treatment
- avoid exfoliating or using harsh product 1-5 days post treatment
- gentle exfoliation is encourages at the 5 day mark to help with any flaking
