Dermaplaning is a popular skin treatment that involves the careful use of a sterile surgical blade to remove the outermost layer of your skin. This process effectively removes dead skin and vellus hair, creating a smooth canvas for makeup application. Before dermaplaning, the face is first double cleansed. Following the treatment, a face mask is applied, and LED light therapy is utilized.
It's important to note that the vellus hairs will not grow back thicker, and there is no downtime associated with this skin treatment. Some individuals may experience slight redness or dryness in certain areas of the treated face. This treatment is particularly sought after for occasions where flawless makeup application is desired.
You should avoid the following before undergoing facial treatments:
- Injectables to the face 48 hours prior to treatment
- Sun exposure and sunbed use 3 days before treatment
- Use of retinol and AHA BHA 3 days before treatment
- Topical prescription retinol 2 weeks prior
- Prescription acne medication 5 days before treatment
- Active acne or cold sores
- Sensitive or flared up skin
Your suitability for this skin treatment will be assessed during the consultation phase.
Continue with homecare products and sunscreen 50+ after your facial treatments. Avoid retinol for 1-5 days post skin treatment. Steer clear of exfoliating or using harsh products for 1-5 days post treatment. Gentle exfoliation is encouraged at the 5-day mark to help with any flaking. Your skincare routine and suitable products to use after your skin treatment can be discussed at the appointment.
